Allergy sufferers can try large doses for no more than 3-4 days due to potential toxicity. I, and several customers, have found relief from allergic sinus congestion with a short series of high doses of vitamin A. I err on the side of conservation: 100,000 - 200,000 IU for 5 days is recommended, therefore I suggest no more than 80,000 IU for no more than 3 days.
Vitamin A is a yellow, fat-soluble solid terpene alcohol obtained from carotene and occurring in such foods as green and yellow vegetables and egg yolks. It is essential for growth and protection from disease. Vitamin A and its analogs have shown cancer cell differentiation enhancing properties and inhibitory effects on the proliferation of some cancer cell lines, especially leukemia and certain head and neck cancers.
Cancer patients whose doctors will not prescribe Vitamin A analog drugs often turn to a liquid emulsified Vitamin A. Vitamin A and its analogs have shown specific cancer cell differentiation enhancing properties and inhibitory effects on the proliferation of some cancer cell lines, especially leukemia and certain head and neck cancers. Cancer patients often take four to eight drops a day, six out of seven days. Cancer patients are urged to follow the Vitamin A precautions to help guard against potential Vitamin A overdose and toxicity. Thyroid cancer patients, or anyone with severe thyroid hormone deficiency should not take Vitamin A supplements.
Each drop of Emulsified Vitamin A contains:
25,000 IU of Vitamin A (palmitate)
Based upon hundreds of published studies, The Life Extension Foundation has recommended Vitamin A analogs to cancer patients. For the many cancer patients who cannot gain access to Vitamin A analogs because the FDA classifies them as "unapproved new drugs," the Foundation has recommended the use of water-soluble Vitamin A liquid drops.
The dosage range of vitamin A lipid drops that cancer patients have been using is between 100,000 and 200,000 I.U. a day. The Foundation has cautioned that these high doses could produce toxicity if taken over extended periods of time, yet cancer patients are often forced to risk some degree of toxicity to obtain an effective dose of Vitamin A.
CAUTION: Anyone taking very high doses of Vitamin A for cancer or any other reason should do so under the care of a physician, and should be on the lookout for symptoms of vitamin A toxicity. The following are common symptoms of Vitamin A overdose that should be watched for in cancer patients taking high doses of any Vitamin A product:
1) Headache
2) Dizziness
3) Blurred vision
4) Joint pain
5) Dry lips
6) Scaly-dry skin
7) Excessive hair loss
Blood tests showing elevated liver enzymes may be a sign of a Vitamin A overdose. If any of these symptoms appear, please discontinue using Vitamin A until the symptoms disappear and then resume Vitamin A therapy at a much lower dosage.
The cancer patient faces a dilemma in attempting to use the maximum dose of Vitamin A to fight their cancer, while trying to avoid Vitamin A toxicity.
The use of any of these natural therapies should be done with the full cooperation of a trained cardiologist, as any errors could result in sudden death from a heart attack. Those with cardiac arrhythmias should avoid caffeine, heavy alcohol intake, and dietary saturated fats.
